Poison Pills: Yaz, Yasmin, Ocella

Unsafe Drugs

yaz lawsuits

Once upon a time there were hundreds of thousands of hip and happening 20 and 30-something women who fell under the spell of Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella birth control pills.

I mean, really, how could they not fall under the Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella spell when all the commercials pictured sassy women with a fashionable flare for life embracing these pills?

It was the perfect seduction paid for by Bayer AG. In 2008, Bayer AG received a handsome sum of $1.8 billion in Yas/Yasmin sales.

We’re talking multi-million dollar ad campaign. Women just like you watched, related, and took Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella. So convinced, you may have even asked you doctor for Yaz, Yasmin, or Ocella as a preferable alternative to your current birth control pill. Perhaps, you even believed that one of these pills would rid you of your horrible PMS symptoms. After all, your doctor prescribed these birth control pills. So, they must be safe, right?
Wrong!

This new generation of birth control pills—Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella contain the active ingredient drospirenone which studies have shown to increase potassium levels in the blood leading to a life-threatening condition called hyperkalemia which disrupts normal heart rhythms causing blood clots to form which can lead to stroke, heart attack, and pulmonary embolism or PE.

Now, class action Yaz lawsuits, Yasmin lawsuits, and Ocella lawsuits are being filed by the thousands.
Yaz does not treat PMS symptoms. TV ads led women to believe otherwise, attracting millions of women who didn’t need to be taking this harmful suite of Yas/Yasmin birth control pills. Older birth control pills are far safer. Their only crime is their advertising is less glamorous.

Bayer doesn’t work wonders. We wonder why they mislead so many women in the prime of their life. Don’t you? Please warn the women in your life about the dangers of Yaz/Yasmin.
